Deer, Rabbits, Venus, Crescent Moon and a Pint of Bitter

An Away match in Hertford on the first dry night since the hosepipe ban was imposed.  Big help having Adam Raoof (President: Middlesex County Chess Association) as our Guest Board 1 (maybe we should auction off this prestigious position on ebay in future). The Hertford Club in Bull Plain is a delightful establishment with appropriate beverages. The match was a 4-1 away win to Borehamwood which gives us 13 points from 11 games. One more match to go at  Letchworth next week (At The Three Horseshoes public house – more amber nectar)

Some photos  from last night available on   http://www.flickr.com/photos/adamraoof/sets/72157629895937961/  – not recommended if you have just had a heavy meal.

On the journey home traversing the unlit country road, a deer was sighted as well as the other delights in the title (except the beer).

Neighbourhood Bully takes the spoils

Having lost 0-5 at Watford in January, a modicum of  local pride was at stake. Watford turned up with their secret weapons, a 5 year-old on board 4, and an 8 year-old on board 5.   As it turned out, we had a good evening, with 3 wins and 2 draws, to finish off the home campaign on a positive note.

2 away matches to come, then the Town Council chess event in June (watch this space).
